In 2019 we celebrate our 10th Summer
Course, first held in 2010. New and returning
students are invited to explore and enjoy a
selection of dances from the Renaissance,
Baroque, and 18th Century eras, in all their
elegance and vigour. They can tell us much
about society, fashion, and music of the past, and provide a context for more recent dance forms, all part of the universal human desire to express joy through music and movement.
The course runs from Wednesday 9th to Friday 11th January, between 9.15am and 3.45pm each day. The venue is 181 Blues Point Road, North Sydney (close to trains and buses at North Sydney Station).
Winter was traditionally the season for courtly dancing, so why not join us in Term 3? You’re welcome to try the first class free of charge. No prior dance experience required, nor do you need to bring a partner. A delightful selection of dances from the English, French and Italian courts provides a little exercise ranging from sedate to surprisingly energetic – for mind as well as body!
We’re having our 2016 Mid-Winter Ball on Friday 8 July, 6.30-9.30pm,
& would be delighted if you can come and join us in some July jollity.
Friends & family are always welcome.
Wear warm, festive clothing or costume, & dancing shoes.
Bring a plate of simple finger food &/or drink (non-alcoholic) to share.
We’ll provide tea/coffee, cups, plates &c.
Hope to see you there!
Best wishes from Fiona & John.
